What CEMS MIM Offers

  • Competing Globally | Special Term 1 (4 Units)
This course examines the key strategic issues found for companies operating in global markets. All businesses in the present day have some level of engagement with international markets. In this course, we are concerned with the strategies that can be used to build and leverage a firm’s advantages for successful competition in global markets. We focus primarily on competition, more so than the organizational structural and management issues that are typical to firms operating in global markets.

  • Marketing Analytics Visualisation and Communication | Special Term 1 (4 Units)
Data visualization is crucial for managers and business leaders in today’s business world. This course provides students with the necessary tools and techniques to understand business data, effectively communicate their findings, and tell compelling data-driven stories using visual graphics. Through this course, students will learn how to evaluate data visualizations based on principles of analytic design, create compelling visualizations using Tableau (with Python/R integration), and explore various visual methods for presenting data, including dashboards, infographics, and interactive visualizations. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of the key principles of data visualization and how to apply them effectively in a business context. Students will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to explore, analyze, and present data visually, and communicate critical insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

You are required to spend one term each at two additional CEMS partner schools. Destinations for the terms abroad will depend on availability. Location and sequence preferences will be taken into consideration, but those with better academic standing (including good GMAT scores) may stand a higher chance of getting their preferred placement.

All CEMS MIM students graduate with competence in three languages, one of which must be English (Language 1). The second and third language can be any language. Please click here for the proficiency requirements of Language 2 and 3.

You will begin the CEMS MIM term with a mandatory intensive one-week Block Seminar that is an ideal start to the programme as it facilitates discussion of management topics from different cultural and academic perspectives.

You will have to successfully complete exclusive CEMS courses such as Global Strategy, Global Leadership and Global Citizenship. The Global Citizenship Seminar is a two-day course that brings together representatives from corporate and / or social partners, professors and students to have the opportunity to engage with the UN Sustainable Development Goals through experiential learning.

These shorter seminars provide training on a wide variety of essential and practical skills for an effective professional career. They are held throughout the two terms and are often in cooperation with corporate organisations.

Adopting a consultancy-like approach, you will work in small teams and apply your skills and knowledge to solve a real business problem for an international organisation. Your student team will work independently and will be supervised and evaluated by both your faculty advisor and the corporate representatives. The Business Project will amount to about half of Semester 2’s workload.

The objective of this internship is to turn academic and theoretical knowledge into a professional and multi-cultural experience. Your internship can take place at a CEMS Corporate Partner, an international company, or a non-profit organisation, as long as the company operates in an international environment, and your work responsibilities correspond to that of a new graduate hire. You are responsible for finding your own internship and getting all official documents required for employment.

As part of the CEMS network, you will have the opportunity to interact with a truly international team, benefiting from the great diversity of your peers, our professors, and our alumni.

“It has been a rewarding journey being part of NUS CEMS family. The outstanding curriculum provided insightful and up-to-date business courses that gave an accelerated start to my international career path. NUS’ supportive multicultural community is what really distinguished the program from others. Most importantly, the program not only gave me the opportunity to expand my professional network on a global level, but also allowed me to build life-long friendships in Singapore and worldwide.”
